This is a hybrid remote position which will require the candidate to report and work from the office two days a week. Therefore, interested candidates should be within a 50-minute radius from Temple, TX.

Sr Data Product Owner develops the use case roadmap and backlogs aligned to the strategic vision for the delivery of business value through a data or analytics product. Conduct market research to identify technology trends and ensure the products built will meet standards and provide value to the customer. As owner of the product, you will be responsible for the lifecycle of a product, overseeing the design and build, proposing enhancements and changes, monitoring the product for anomalies, and retiring the product when the time is right.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Identify, define, and translate the business needs to technical requirements, consult in feature and epic development, define user stories and acceptance criteria, oversee all aspects of projects including conception, documentation, development, and deployment working directly with engineering team to refine and prioritize stories for development.
  • Be the key communicator of product decisions and business objectives to the product team and make key decisions in-line with stakeholder objectives.
  • Sets ambitious and clear product vision and communicate it effectively to stakeholders, the team, and the rest of the unit.
  • Create and socialize team roadmaps internally and with stakeholders.
  • Accountable for product specific KPIs once solution enters production and communicate regular tracking to stakeholders.
  • Utilizes market and industry knowledge to translate user needs into user stories and acceptance criteria for their team. Maintain a backlog 3 to 4 sprints ahead of the team.
  • Works closely with Data COE establish each product's business value and support messaging, communication and customer outreach as necessary.
  • Facilitates release planning with stakeholders as well as weekly demos.
  • Serves as a key role on Agile team(s) and works onsite with the team daily.
  • Integrates usability studies and research into product requirements to enhance user satisfaction and ensure customer driven design.
  • Builds close relationships with key stakeholders to ensure that the team's effort is aligned with overall strategy.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors degree.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of experience working on data products which includes requirements gathering, design, test, and launch.
  • Proven knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the relevant industry
  • Strong collaborator with cross-functional teams from tech, design, and business
  • Strong understanding of data governance and ability develop user stories to ensure governance principals are adhered to.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of modern data platforms and practices, specifically within Azure, Data Factory, Databricks, DBT and pipeline creation.
  • Experience with facilitating agile ceremonies, managing a backlog/release plan, tracking team level metrics, removing blockers (burndown chart, release burn up, etc.)
  • Strong experience leading with teams in an agile setting.
  • Strong leader, collaborator, team player, and individual contributor
  • Strong communication skills with comfort in speaking with business stakeholders.
  • Strong problem solver with ability to manage and lead the team to push the solution and progress.
