Job Summary

Prepares patients, rooms and equipment for GI procedures.\u00A0 Supervises all GI equipment maintenance, disinfection and repairs.\u00A0 Assists the Endoscopy Manager in planning, communicating and evaluating the activities of the Endoscopy Lab.\u00A0 Works in conjunction with a registered nurse.\u00A0 All employees are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with\u00A0PH values of compassion, dignity, excellence, integrity and teamwork.

Accountabilities
  • Administers preps and transports patients and specimens.
  • Provides equipment maintenance, cleaning and disinfecting and prepares procedure rooms for the following day\u2019s schedule and stocks equipment and supplies.
  • Assists nurses and physicians during all procedures and performs Hemocult B testing: takes pH readings and other selected lab tests.*
  • Demonstrates competence in working with all equipment utilized in the Endoscopy Department to include scopes, light sources, electrocautery system and all other accessories and attachments used in Endoscopy and demonstrates effective cleaning of each.
  • Demonstrates competence in assisting with PEG or PEJ placement and care of site in conjunction with RN or RRT.*
  • Demonstrates flexibility in adjusting priorities, patient reassignments, and personal schedule to meet the needs of the department.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

This is a non-management job that report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education - High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Specialized training in sterile processing, surgical technology or on-the-job training preferred.
  • Experience - 1 year of related experience
