Mgr, Materials & Fuel Rod Design

  • Responsible for leading, managing or performing the engineering operations of the Materials and Fuel Rod Design group that resides in the Product Engineering department.
  • Responsible to manage a team of 10+ engineers in a specific functional or operational area within an engineering discipline to provide engineering services, including design and analysis of complex products.
  • Responsible for the effective operations of the team and ensures standards of quality (including effective management of the corrective action program), cost (including utilization of resources to meet assigned targets), safety (both ensuring a NSCWE as well as personnel and Industrial safety), reliability, timeliness and performance are met in production processes.
  • Responsible for all aspect of personnel development and management, in close cooperation with the technical leader(s) in the team. Typically manages experienced professionals who exercise latitude and independence in assignments.
  • Responsibilities typically include policy and strategy implementation for short-term results in the specific area of assignment. Problems faced are difficult to moderately complex.
  • Influences others outside of own job area regarding policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Demonstrates sound contract knowledge, uses approved commercial processes, manages work to terms, scope; tracks progress and models a questioning attitude.
  • The individual should have good communication skills and overall understanding of the financial forecasting models

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree with strong materials background (Master's degree preferred)
  • +10 years of experience
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience with engineering development
  • Through understanding of how design requirements translate into manufacturing processes
  • Demonstrated capability to collaborate and co-operate.
  • Demonstrated independence and assertiveness to advocate on Nuclear Fuel interests within a large, cross-organizational team.
  • Task focused with problem solving mindset for project challenges
